The last few weeks have been quite eventful. The week before my stint to Cornwall I had the probably busiest week of my life. It took me a couple of days to unwind enough to actually enjoy the calm. The children loved it of course, and their affection towards the tractor and the Gloucester Old-Spot pigs grew for every day.
The day after my return, I went to the Galla Award show of the Copenhagen Film Festival (we made them a player). The food was good, there was some free wine, and Wallmans (owners of Cirkusbygningen where it took place) threw a Las Vegas kind of show with singing and dancing. Tributes to Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. I’m not really into that kind of stuff, but I know that when I’ll be fifty, I’ll sit at events like that with my wife. The entertainment will cover up the awkwardness of having run out of things to say to each other.
The day after that I attended a glamourous wedding on a large estate on Funen.

Hrmpf.
That’s it: I’m outta here. Off for one week’s worth of tea, scones and clotted cream. Farm animals. Happy children.
Lovely job.
I’m preparing a talk about how to use “video on the internet”. I’ve pretty much mapped out what the areas of interest are, and for the next couple of weeks I’ll try to cram those into what should hopefully become 50 minutes of inspiration, knowledge, insight, fun, waouw-experiences etc… The challenge is always to limit it. There’s nothing worse than leaving a speech, with more questions than you came with.
I’ve put a first braindump on the wiki (in Danish). If you know any cool and inspiring links that deserve to be mentioned, feel free to put them there. Now the question is: powerpoint or not?
Worth checking out: crossroadscopenhagen.com, and in real life Ørbæks Ølbar where I tasted a sweeeeet Herslev Pale Ale.

For old times sake, I’ve decided to ressucitate a battered version of the visITfilm screensaver. We coded it in 2001, to livestream a reality show (24/24 for three months!) but it has been laying dormant since. At the time we tried to sell a model with built-in RSS-reader, but most people just thought it was too frigging weird.
Now : showing a gallery of pictures sent in by cameraphone (you can contribute too!).
You can change the settings by right-clicking on the desktop, choose “properties -> screensaver”.
It’s works perfectly but there are some minor link-issues. You can always uninstall it. Guaranteed spyware-free and all that jazz.

Started writing a loooong (and unreadable) essay about how we should try and understand politics with the help of the idealism/materialism dichotomy (in the strictest philosophical sense), rather than through the worn-out and shattered left/right glasses.
But for now: somehow things got all muddled up. Fundamentally, the left is materialistic, and the right is idealistic, not the other way round. If you accept that premise, it helps you understand everything much better, and can perhaps make you rethink your political standpoint, without the constraints of the left/right straitjacket.
Appliance: whenever confronted with a political proposal, try to figure out whether the politician believes in the basic thesis that the objective reality shapes our lives. The answer usually reveals a swarm of self-contradictions, and that behind their valuesystems, most politicians are either deeply confused or two-tongued hypocrites.
Hope to elaborate on that. Some, sunny day.
